Adventures in Babysitting

Having so much fun babysitting the kids in Dalhart this week! (Tired, but fun!) :) Here are some pictures of some of the things we've been doing so far this week.

The "tent" we make in mom & dad's room is a big hit. I can't count the times I've had to "fix it". Joshua wants ALL of the pillows underneath it.
Going outside & swinging is always fun. Abi-ism #1: While swinging, we were talking about how Grandad is my dad and her father's dad. Abi stated very thoughtfully... "Your brother is awfully awesome." I agreed with her. Abi-ism #2: After I figured out how to fix Joshua's pedal car for him, as she blew past me on her scooter Abi told me, "You're becoming just like one of the family!"
(Jacob loved these pics of Joshua. He said, "what a stud".)
Here he is before he noticed the camera on him. Wonder what he's thinking about.
And after he saw my camera... cheese! He's the CUTEST little boy.
I gave Joshua his belated birthday present. The book took some time for him to warm up to, but he loved the tow truck/car puzzle immediately. Each of the cars have been assigned to someone's name. We play with this puzzle on & off all day long & recite all of the names of who belongs to each car. He's getting pretty good at saying my name some of the time, but mostly he just yells "aaaahhh" down the hall when he can't fnd me. :)...but I believe the bubble wrap was the biggest hit of all! Here is Abi pushing Joshua in his mower/stroller. So fun!... and now Abi's turn for Joshua to push her! He's so strong! He really flew her around the room!
I tried to introduce some games to help settle him down, & although we didn't really play them, playing with all the pieces kept him interested for a while. He loves "cherrios".
So, as you can see, we're having lots of fun and staying busy & happy!
One last Abi-ism #3: (I'm sure there are others forgotten & more soon to come!)
She talked me into letting her take a shower instead of a bath Saturday night. I helped her wash her hair & it was a big success. She loved it & felt like such a grown up. She wanted to put her pajamas on in private, so I left her in the bathroom with the door closed. After a bit, I came back & asked if she was OK. She yelled through the door, "Oh, I'm done! Just combing my hair. You can come on in now. You know, you're pretty good entertainment." The things that come out of her mouth are so great. Hope Mom & Dad are having as much fun in Mexico as the kids are having in Dalhart! I'll try to post more pics & stories in a couple of days!
